About the Book

A beautifully depicted story about a tiger named Charlie who leaves his home for an unfamiliar beach. He overcomes his fears with the support of others and bravely surfs the biggest wave, knowing he has love on his side. He finds peace by accepting that, eventually, everyone will surf too. ‘Everyone Surfs’ is an allegory for dealing with the grief and loss of death, an inspiring story with a delightful ending.

In between working full time as a secondary school art teacher and raising 2 young children with his wife Lauren, Luke has put together both solo and collaborative exhibitions of his coastal oil paintings, and worked as a freelance illustrator on a range of projects, but this is Luke’s first time working on an illustrated book. The subject matter of the book and the tale of Charlie instantly connected with Luke, who was born and raised on the Mornington Peninsula, a beautiful place an hour from Melbourne which is surrounded by pristine beaches and great surf.
